Milleridge Inn – New York

 Milleridge Inn – New York

Growing up on Long Island one could not know about or have visited Milleridge Inn at some point in their life. I think it was learning the history of this historical Inn that I fell in love with history, especially the American Revolutionary War timeframe. I think I was in fifth grade when my parents took me to the Milleridge Inn for a Sunday dinner and my father told me all about how the Inn was a stopping point for travelers traveling from New York City out to the eastern part of the Island. Also how Washington’s spies would also stop at the Inn from time to time to spy on the British soldiers and Hessian soldiers that the British forced the innkeepers to quarter or house within their walls to learn about their movements and plans. The innkeepers were staunch supporters of the American Army and the revolutionary war issues. After all, the inn has been a part of the new world since 1672. In 2022, it will have stood for over 350 years and its history in the area is well worth the visit, especially during the Christmas Holiday as the shops contain wonderful treasures to bring out the child in you to buy and enjoy. From the General Store to the Boutique to the Christmas store, there is something for everyone to enjoy and remember at the Milleridge Inn. The food is amazing in the Restaurant so be sure to schedule a meal on your visit. Eat first then stroll through the little village afterward with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. The decorations during the holiday are especially brilliant to see and enjoy with the whole family.
