James Buchanan, our 15th president, hailed from the Scottish-Irish side of the presidential political pool. His favorite foods were the Moss Rose Cake and surprisingly enough, sauerkraut which is German based dish.
The Moss Rose Cake seems to be a spin on the orange German sponge cake with orange slices on top and covered by a white sugary icing.
