Woodrow Wilson

Woodrow Wilson was a strange duck, a President having hailed from Virginia, the state that was called "the Mother of Presidents since it gave us eight Presidents, and he was the last of those leaders. Along with many of the Virginia leaders, Wilson loved Virginia Country Ham. This was not just baked ham, it was cured in salt, which gave it a distinct flavor when served with eggs, cornbread, and greens. When Wilson began to become sick, his doctor allowed him to enjoy his Virginia Country Ham along with his favorite dessert, Strawberry Ice Cream.

Strawberry Ice Cream was made specifically for Wilson by the White House Chefs each month.
